About ModernHikes

A journal born on a ridge in Patagonia.

Who We Are

We Believe That
How You Travel
Matters.

ModernHikes began in 2020 as a personal blog by Sophia Laurent and Marco Vettori — two friends who met on a Via Ferrata in the Dolomites and decided the world needed more writing that treated trail culture with the same reverence as fine dining or high fashion.

Today, we’re a small team of writers, photographers, and lifelong hikers spread across six countries, united by a belief that the outdoors is not a compromise on elegance — it is where elegance finds its truest form.

Every article we publish is researched by someone who has been there, walked it, slept under those stars. We don’t write from press trips and we don’t accept payment for coverage. What you read here is what we genuinely believe.

What We Stand For

Our Values

01

Authentic Experience

Every story on ModernHikes is written by someone who has physically been there. No AI-generated itineraries, no secondhand accounts. Only genuine experience.

02

Editorial Independence

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. When we recommend something, it’s because we use it. Some links may be affiliate links — always disclosed clearly.

03

Responsible Travel

Luxury and responsibility are not opposites. We advocate for low-impact travel, indigenous community support, and leaving trails better than we found them.
